According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, an entrepreneur is defined as “a person who starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money”. As an entrepreneur, no one will truly know all the hard work that goes into every single aspect of your business unless they are in your shoes. As a women entrepreneur, you have all the difficulties of starting and maintaining a company as well as the added stressors that being a businesswoman comes with. You are constantly challenged to prove yourself and the legitimacy of your company, yet are not as well liked when you are assertive because it can be mistaken for aggressiveness.

Almost anything in life, whether it is negative or positive, is as negative or positive as you view it to be. The easiest way to be successful is to wake up every morning saying that you’re going to be successful. A positive mindset will take you much farther than negativity will.

Now that you have a positive mindset and are confident that your business will go far, here are 10 essential things to know when running your business:

  1. Compromise with your vision and sell what your market wants to buy, rather than only what you want to sell.
  2. Develop a vision, and hire your team immersed in that vision.
  3. Exceed expectations with your customer service.
  4. Make money as soon as possible and find ways to cut down on costs.
  5. When preparing, underestimate profits and overestimate costs.
  6. Sales and marketing should be of the highest priority.
  7. Discover ways to increase your profits exponentially.
  8. Calculate and test everything before you dive in.
  9. Take advice from more experienced business owners, they have probably experienced what you are going through and can over invaluable guidance.
  10. Never sacrifice quality on your items! Always add value.

Your main goal as an entrepreneur is to gain and maintain a loyal client base. As women, it may be easy for us have a friendly nature and demeanor and build strong relationships with others, including our customers.  Without these customers, there is no way your company can be successful. So get out there, get those clients, and give them a positive experience they will never forget that will leave them wanting more!
